Frequently asked questions about the BRICK AWARD

Eligible projects can range in size and scope from single private homes and small bespoke projects to major public, commercial or industrial developments. The project can comprise newly constructed, refurbished or converted buildings and feature new or recycled materials, but it must have been completed no more than four years prior to the award year.

No. Bricks, clay blocks, clay panels, brick slips, pavers, roof tiles – we welcome submissions that demonstrate innovation and architectural excellence across the full spectrum of brick, clay and ceramic products and applications.

As the pre-eminent international showcase for outstanding brick architecture, being recognized as a BRICK AWARD winner can bring immeasurable reputational benefits. However, the Grand Prize winner will also receive a bespoke ceramic trophy and total prize money of €7,000. Category winners receive €5,000, and all winners and shortlisted nominees are showcased in the prestigious Brick Book

No. Submissions to the BRICK AWARD are free of charge.

Submissions are made via an online form which requires basic project data, a short description of the project, plus pictures and plans. When submission is open, you can find the form here.

The winners of the BRICK AWARD are announced biennially at a glittering awards ceremony in Vienna attended by some of the biggest names in modern architecture. The award ceremony for BRICK AWARD 26 will be held on 11 June 2026.
